it's a jungle out there!

Our backyard was getting quite neglected, and in need of a good trimming. O and I trimmed back the wisteria, grape vine, rose of sharon (I like to call it a hibiscus bush), and the tree in above photo. We left all the mountains of clippings for daddy to clean up. My poor tomato plants were wildly overgrown too, trailing along the ground, but producing tons of fruit. I clipped those way back, giving light to the underneath ones, and now waiting for them to ripen. I have been really enjoying the cherry tomatoes - so sweet and juicy, and making a super yummy salad with them. I add in cukes, gr. onion, feta cheese, hemp hearts, and a balsamic dressing on top - mmmm! I grew lettuce this year too, but it was getting old and bitter, and one plant in the back grew to be 4 feet tall! We're still enjoying our strawberry plants, and I eat 1 or 2 each time I'm in the garden. It's been neat to see them spread and grow new plants from a long stalk growing along the ground. I didn't know they did that! Oh, and we harvested and enjoyed the one broccoli plant that grew. That's about it for our garden, better luck next year! I will be using all new seeds that will actually grow :)
