loving our lakes

We happen to live very close to 2 beautiful pristine lakes, about a 10 minute drive away.  They are 2 of the most popular lakes in the lower mainland, so in summertime they are busy busy with the lots full and people parking on the road. So the few times we went this summer was in late afternoon when the crowds were thinning.  This is Buntzen Lake. It's so gorgeous to look upon from the beach, surrounded by mountains with the trees coming right down to the water.  From these photos, you might think we were among the only ones there, but looking back at the beach shows the reality.

One hot and sticky afternoon after a hot walk home from school, and no plans on the horizon, the kids and i impulsively packed some towels, sand toys and snack and headed to the beach for a swim!  For some, like my Kelowna family, going to the beach on an impulse isn't a big deal!  But for us, who lived in New West for 6 years before moving here, it was so wonderful to quickly be at this gorgeous lake, submersed in the cool waters and relaxing in such an enjoyable way!

Totally gorgeous! LOVE the lake shots! Jealous! Ron had his photo taken on this lake once upon a time, modeling a neat boat that his company sold. :)
