memories of my firstborn

We didn't get our first digital camera until 2005, which means that Oliver's first 3 years of life are recorded on film.  Hundreds of photos, but they don't get looked at nearly as often as our digital photos on the computer.  I, at times with the kids, often look at photos of the girls when they were babies, but there were none of Oliver on here, which I felt bad/sad about.

When Oliver was born, we bought a digital camcorder, and have tapes and tapes of video of him, gathering dust somewhere now (another project for another time, getting them on the computer!)  That camera had the option of taking photos, which I took lots of, so we could email our precious, smiley, baldy baby boy to friends and family.  The quality wasn't great, especially in low light, but....it was digital!

I recently found a cd i had burnt of those digital pictures of his first 14.5 months (up until we moved to Chile).  Late that same night, I pushed the cd into our computer, and suddenly 9 years melted away as I looked through these precious photos with such emotion and joy.  The memories came flooding back of our first baby and what life was like for us in North Vancouver as a new family of 3.  He was the cutest little thing, with big blue eyes, bald little head, and ready smile.  We had so much fun with him, and loved our new role as parents.

Next thing I knew, it was 2 a.m.  That's how swept away I was.

I miss that baby a lot, but love the boy he is now, and the young man he is turning into.
