making an old shirt new again

One of my latest projects is finding thrifted shirts in good condition and embellishing them, often covering up a boring picture/logo, like these 2 here. It turned out so well I think the kids that have birthdays in the next few months will be getting a shirt like this with their initial on it...until I find a new interest. It's a pretty quick and easy project, the biggest effort is finding the shirt. I've rediscoved Value Village and have come out with lots of great finds.

Hey Leah, love your blog. What a great idea with shirts. The patch could be of anything, and fun to have raw edges too. You could tear the square to get nice frayed edges. The possibilites are endless. great to recycle.

Oh hi........cute shirts, Dominic is a lucky boy!! I need to fix Josh's quilt, it's very worn flannel, with two large rips in it. I think patches are the only option but probably won't use flannel (too stretchy), maybe a soft denim??? I think I'll head to the fabric store in Abby tomorrow...
