crafting for the fair

big bibs

burp cloths

small bibs

bags

I had applied to go in the school's Xmas craft fair before we left for Chile. I didn't hear back confirming my table until I got home from Chile - a mere 17 days before the event! I finally got cracking a week and a half before the 17th, thinking I wouldn't get enough done in time. I sewed like made and made up 30 small bibs, and 30 burp cloths, with the thought of selling them in sets. In the last 2 days, I managed to sew up 10 large/velcro bibs, and was so glad I had a bit of variety. I had really high hopes for selling lots, because the fabrics are SO cute!, and figured lots of people would be looking for baby gifts. I had my hopes quickly dashed in the first hour (or less) when I realized I probably wasn't going to sell out :) Lots of people stopped to look and comment, and many said they just didn't know any babies to buy for. The first couple hours were pretty depressing and boring (note to self: don't go in a craft show alone!). By sheer coincidence I was back to back with the daughter of our neighbors, who we know quite well. They came for the rest of the day, and after that it was fun. Someone to talk too, someone to look after the table so I could take breaks and buy a few things myself. I was glad when the end of the day came though, and it was time to go home. One craft fair under my belt now! And lots of bibs and burp cloths came home with me. I'm going to try and sell them in a couple stores that have expressed interest in selling my things. I want to get labels made to sew on each item, to make them look more professional. Phew, enough sewing for a little while!
