what do those two things have to do with each other? Some friends of ours were worried that if they attempted to wallpaper together, it might end in divorce. So I'm here to say that we're still going strong after papering 2 walls together!
I've been dreaming about wallpapering this dining room wall since moving in, 7 months ago exactly. I finally settled on the Orla Kiely multi-coloured stem print, because i've loved this print for a long time now and I wasn't seeing anything else that really jumped out at me.
I was equally excited and appalled when UPS delivered the paper to my door. The packaging was unbelievably bad and thoughtless. Instead of putting it into a box the right length, as it is quite crucial to protect the edges!, the 2 rolls were squashed diagonally into a too-small box, putting those precious edges into some serious jeopardy! Amazingly, only one edge was a little roughed up right at the beginning of the roll.
It was really easy to put up. No really, it was. Way easier than sloppy wet paper you run through a tub of water before applying, then it slips around all over the wall! This was almost no mess at all. We simply applied the adhesive to the wall with a small foam roller and applied the paper. This paper nice and thick, so it was easy to cut at the edges of the wall. We ALMOST had enough paper in one roll to finish the wall, but were short by a number of inches, due to the distance of the repeat pattern. As a nice bonus, the pattern just happened to be exactly centred on the width of the wall!
We couldn't be happier with how it looks and how painless it was to hang.
the supplies
plain, boring white wall, begging for some colour
2 sheets up, applying paste for the next one
cutting to the right length
mmmm, lovely!
and...the finished result!
