sewing a little outfit for a little girl's birthday present seems to be the norm these days. It's a good chance to use my pretty fabrics and make one of my favourite (and easiest!) things, a skirt. However, this was my first time attempting a flower clip, and it was a little dicey. I hope it holds up! I've admired fabric flowers online for ages, so it was time to try it myself. I cut out a long narrow strip, folded it over and did a loose stitch, which I then pulled to ruffle it. I hand stitched underneath as I rolled it into a flower. I added 2 leaves for extra effect. The unfortunate part is that the metal hair clip I glued and sewed in is pretty flimsy and not very strong for a heavy flower. I added the elastic to have 2 options. I hear through the school grapevine the "D" loves her outfit and wore it on her actual birthday.
