The thing I like best about Halloween, is the costumes, no doubt about it.
It's always fun coming up with an idea and seeing how I can pull it together.
This year, while browsing through my favourite thrift store, I saw a child's
hippie costume, and thought it would be pretty cute to dress the girls like hippies,
as authentically as possible! I found everything at Value Village, and made the
jeans more bell-bottomed by inserting a triangle of tie-dye fabric into Lily's
and making a ruffle at the bottom of Ruby's. We made the necklaces, and found
the headbands and feathers at an accessory store. The girls don't know much at all
about that era, but were game to dress the part!
Oliver doesn't really like dressing in costume, so I was trying to think of something
simple for him. A few days before the 31st, he was wearing the blue sweater, with
his hair styled. Troy commented that he looked like Tintin, and so his costume was
decided! He had almost everything in his closet except for white knee socks,
"snowy" the dog, and a magnifying glass. Super simple, but great costume,
in my opinion! It would have been fun to top it off with a tan coloured trench
coat, but I wasn't willing to pay $25 for a small woman's coat at VV that he'd
only wear once.
it cracked me up that Ruby didn't really know how to make a peace sign
looking cuter without the big glasses!
run, Tintin, run
go solve that mystery
pumpkin carving was at 4:30 on Halloween night.
fast and furious! nobody got cut, that's the main thing
the pumpkins turned out pretty decent, nothing special, but good enough
for their very short life!
why not do a little pre-trick or treat stretching while we wait?
dressing warm for the rainy night.
cute ponchos over raincoats
Happy Halloween!
